Stewardship Monday: Coastal Cleanup Day

Coastal Clean up Day is this Saturday, September 20! Join in the largest volunteer event in California this weekend and join a group on the shore to pick up some debris. Marine Science Institute is excited to be cleaning up a new site at Grey Whale Cove!

Do you know where the storm drains in your neighborhood flow to? They may flow to a bay, creek or river, but eventually that water (and the trash in it) will flow to the ocean. You can join the coastal cleanup no matter where you live. Every piece of debris that we pick up on land is one fewer piece of debris that could have been carried to the ocean by water or wind. You can help out any time by becoming a Coastal Steward and taking the Stewardship Pledge.

I wonder what we will find!
